The minimum age requirement is 18 years.
Previous employment history is beneficial, though not always obligatory.
Mandatory fingerprinting and possession of a Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card are necessary.
Completion of a criminal background check is mandatory.
Direct Support Provider (DSP) roles involving transportation may necessitate a motor vehicle department check.
Certain positions may mandate specialized training and the attainment of a certificate of completion.
Caregiving courses are available at training institutes for prospective Direct Support Professionals (DSPs).
